volkner・デン ジ-
TCG. 時の果ての絆。

Gym Leaders were not featured in the Pokemon Trading Card Game since the Johto region back in the early 2000's, so there was never really any hope for the Sinnoh Gym Leaders getting their Pokemon or images featured on cards. Imagine the surprise when some early preorder websites were offering card sets that included "GL" Pokemon! Well, what else could GL be? It was confirmed soon after that every Sinnoh Gym leader was getting their Pokemon on cards - at least two per Gym Leader, and some with a third Level X (an especially rare, powerful and sought after card type). Volkner was soon found out to be getting not only Luxray, Raichu, and Luxray Level X, but the card art featured gorgeous background paintings of Sunyshore Gym, and then a week before the release of the set on Dec. 26th, 2008, it was revealed Volkner himself and his Gym were also getting their own cards (no other Gym Leader received this honor). Volkner won with five cards total, and we here at Sunyshore could not be happier!

Volkner's Philosophy
Supporter

Draw cards from your deck until you have 6 cards in your hand. Before drawing cards, you may discard 1 card from your hand. (If you can’t draw cards from your deck, this card can’t be played.)

You can only use a Supporter once during your turn. To use it, put it into play next to your Active Pokemon and discard it at the end of your turn

Sunyshore City Gym
Stadium

Each player's Lightning-type Pokemon ignores Resistance when damaging the opponent's Active Pokemon.

Each player's Lightning-type Pokemon has no Weakness.

You can put a Stadium into play next to your Active Pokemon once during your turn. If a Stadium with a different name is put into play, discard this card.

The above translations and following info have come from Pokebeach.com.
  • This set was released in Japan on December 26th.
  • It is the second set based off Pokemon Platinum.
  • There are 90 cards total, in addition to eight basic Energy.
  • The two theme decks feature Gallade and Infernape from the Elite Four, and contain 24 unique, non-reprinted cards.
  • All Pokemon with a Trainer on their card (Gym Leader, Elite Four, and Team Galactic-owned Pokemon) are Pokemon-SP, which makes them Basic Pokemon. Thus, "owned" Pokemon in this set, like Luxray GL, are Basic Pokemon and do not evolve from normal pre-evolution cards.
  • Pokemon owned by Gym Leaders have "GL" at the end of the Pokemon's name, Elite Four Pokemon have "4" at the end, and Galactic Pokemon have "G," as they did in Galactic's Conquest
